[dn42] AS4242420263 March 2026 update, FOSDEM talk and POPs
In this post, I’ll update you about the state of my dn42 network in 2026. Many things happened, I’ve lost a few POPs and will create a new one, but mainly, I had the opportunity to present my work on dn42 automation at FOSDEM'26!
FOSDEM'26
As usual, this year’s FOSDEM was great and was once again the occasion to meet old friends, new people, learn new things, and come back with way too many ideas for my available spare time.
This FOSDEM was special to me, since it was the first time I attended as a speaker. I had the pleasure to share my work on dn42 in the Network devroom, in my talk about “Automating BGP peerings in the dn42 environment”.
I’d like to thank the volunteers for the organization, and the devroom chairs for trusting me :)
You can catch up on the stream and read the slides on the FOSDEM website.
POP servers decommissioning
Unfortunately, my friend Gyptazy closes his BoxyBSD service, which means I will eventually lose my POPs in Frankfurt, New York and Toronto. These POPs will stay up for a few more weeks, but their fate remain uncertain. For this reason, the auto-peering services have been disabled on these POPs. If you have peered in these locations, please migrate to one of the remaining POPs.
New POP server
Thanks to Grifon (a French local associative ISP), I’ve set-up a new POP in Rennes (FR) with auto-peering.
This POP is a bit special, it runs Arch Linux testing and Bird 3, compared to all my other POPs running Debian 13 and Bird 2. It allows me to test and signoff Bird 3 updates for the Arch Testing Team.
